We recently acquired rabbits to breed for meat and pets. Two of our does are New Zealand White mixes and have gorgeous, super soft Rex-style coats. Our other doe and our buck are typical all white, red-eyed New Zealand Whites. We'll be breeding them on the 15th-16th of March in hopes of getting buck kits since it is a full moon those nights. (Read some interesting info on breeding rabbits by the moon phases here). They each get a handful of timothy hay at least once a day in addition to ~6-7 oz of pellets and 6 black oil sunflower seeds as a treat. The BOSS are high in vitamin E and help condition them for breeding. They also get a splash of apple cider vinegar in their water about once a week.
I've been working on a write up of our hutch plans and I'm most of the way finished, but seeing as how the hutch itself is still in our garage, with no roof attached, I have no finished pictures. There seems to be a theme of mostly finished animal housing and extended garage stays for our critters... Considering there is 6" of ice and snow outside, I don't think the rabbits mind being "inside" for a few more days.
In the meantime, here's a video of the rabbits enjoying some trimmings from our rose bush that I had just pruned. They LOVED them!

Juliet is my favorite rabbit. Can you tell? ;)
Please know that the rabbits now have hock rests and jingly-ball "cat" toys. I can't stand the thought of an animal in a cage board out of its mind and physically uncomfortable.
Here's another teaser, we just bought bees! We don't have them or their hive yet, but they're all paid for and we'll be picking them up mid-late April.
